An interesting concept. Love that Pignon isn‘t a typical British white male detective. And putting him in the setting of a small English village in 1910 is pretty unorthodox. But, the language was stilted, as if trying to mimic the style of the time. The structure was interesting but an effort to get through so many chapters of past events. I just wanted to skip it all. Sorry to say that I didn‘t find this first book in the series to my taste.
