Book of Texas Birds
Book of Texas Birds | Gary Clark
1 post | 1 to read
Drawing on the knowledge and insight gained from a lifetime of watching, studying, and enjoying birds, this book is full of information about more than four hundred species of birds in Texas, most all of which author Gary Clark has seen first hand. Organized in the standard taxonomic order familiar to most birders, the book is written in a conversational tone that yields a wide-ranging discussion of each birds life history as well as an intimate look at some of its special characteristics and habits. Information regarding each species diet, voice, and nest is included as well as when and where it can be found in Texas. Magnificent photographs by Kathy Adams Clark accompany each birds entry. For those just beginning to watch birds to those who can fully relate to the experiences and sentiments communicated here by a veteran birder, this book reveals the kind of personal connection to nature that careful attention to the birds around us can inspire.

I recently got a bird feeder for my balcony - and both the kittehs are obsessed! Tilney can usually be found on his lounge rapt with the novelty of birds coming directly to him (in a manner of speaking ha ha). Camera shy Elliot us usually crouched under the curtain liner as if ready to leap at a moments notice.

Meanwhile, I‘m hoping these library books will help me identify my new bird friends.

Scochrane26 I‘ve been thinking of getting a bird feeder, but I might have to place it somewhere besides my front yard. My cat has already been too excited about birds & squirrels every morning while on his window perch. 3y
Dogearedcopy I loved our bird feeders but our cat figured out how to hunt... and there‘s something about perishing birds that makes my heart break every time. We‘ve kept the hummingbird feeders though— they‘re too fast for Spike! 3y
