Olive, Mabel & Me: Life and Adventures with Two Very Good Dogs
Olive, Mabel & Me: Life and Adventures with Two Very Good Dogs | Andrew Cotter
4 posts | 4 read | 6 to read
When sporting events were put on hold in March 2020, commentator Andrew Cotter shifted to working from home. The one-on-one competitors? His two Labrador retrievers, Olive and Mabel. In the hilarious videos that ensued, the dogs engage in various contests, from bone-snatching and breakfast-eating to crushing it on the dog walk, while Cotter narrates to hilarious effect. The scene of Mabel, simply standing still in a fetid pond was one of the most popular. Why? Because this is how dogs live, and Cotter captured it with humor and joy. It's why the series has been viewed more than 50 million times, entertaining dog owners, sports fans and celebrities around the world. Olive and Mabel are more than online celebrities, however, as revealed in this charming narrative. Filled with stories about how Cotter fell in love with his dogs, his passion for hiking with them through the glens and over the peaks of his native Scotland, and the ongoing relationship between Olive and Mabel (particularly the "competitive fire" lit during these days of quarantine), the memoir is by turns side-splittingly funny and thoughtfully tender. It's sure to resonate with all dog lovers.

Been looking forward to reading Olive, Mabel & Me for months and finally got it from the library. Can't wait to start reading it. Been following the tales of the dogs on Twitter since the beginning of the pandemic!

Yup, I‘ve got three cats, but I do have a soft spot for dogs. This is the first of what is sure to be a deluge of books that embrace the ways in which COVID-19 in the year 2020 changes our lives. Maybe you‘ve seen some of the videos Andrew Cotter made about Olive and Mabel with his sports announcer voice overs... they‘re laugh out loud clever. This book tells the backstory.

LeahBergen I love his videos! 😂 2y

This book was so darn enjoyable, especially in the midst of the dumpster fire that was 2020! Just a lovely story about Andrew, Olive, and Mabel and their life together, narrated by the warm and witty Andrew Cotter. Book 8 for me of #12Booksof2020
BONUS: It includes pictures of Olive and Mabel as puppies! 😍

Prairiegirl_reading I love them! I didn‘t know there was a book! 💜 2y

If you‘re on social media at all, you may be familiar with Andrew Cotter‘s hilarious videos of him narrating his dogs‘ activities like sporting events. This charming and sometimes hilarious book fills in the blanks of Mr. Cotter‘s history and of course that of the incomparable Olive and Mabel. The love he has for his dogs (and dogs in general) is evident on every page, and it was a joy to read. Mr. Cotter‘s wry and witty commentary throughout ⬇️

Lesanne made it extra fun, and the photos of the gorgeous Scottish scenery (where he takes the dogs on long hikes and climbs) are exquisite. If you‘re a dog lover like me I highly recommend it, especially in these stressful times! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 2y
charl08 Love these videos. The latest one of him moving home the dogs look so sad! 2y
Lesanne @charl08 I don‘t think I‘ve seen that one yet! I‘ll have to look for it. 2y
