This gorgeous cover and title are misleading. Sofia Laguna writes novels from the perspective of mistreated children. They make for uncomfortable reading. Fascinating yet repulsive, I could not look away. The sense of foreboding was palpable.
Quality #ozfiction. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

#currentlyreading #ozfiction Loved two of her previous novels. Will I love this one...?

Jeg I‘m waiting to hear what you feel about this one. My feelings are still with me. Michelle is reading it too and I get to talk about it with her. (edited) 3y
MrsMalaprop @Jeg Oh my goodness. Sophie Laguna‘s books are devastating aren‘t they? I‘m over halfway in & I‘m hooked. 3y

Wow! I just love her books. This one did not disappoint. First time in a while I felt so much for the main character . At times I wanted to yell at him , at others to reach out and hug him. Towards the end I felt very uncomfortable travelling along with his story but by the end I felt so much empathy . An amazing reading experience for me.

I wish I could say Infinite Splendours is a story of triumph over trauma and breaking the cycle of abuse, but it takes a really concerning turn towards the end of the second act and the characters were never quite redeemed (in my eyes, anyway). Even now, I‘m really not sure how I feel about Infinite Splendours – I'll be churning on it for a while yet before I make up my mind. Full review: https://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/new-releases/
