3/5⭐ The addition of a 3rd POV and removal of the pointless incestuous feelings from the previous book were good decisions. However, this book still flagged quite a bit until the very end, a combo of too much detail & unclear direction. I don't understand why any characters stay with abusive Felix. The open ending for the various characters does leave me still wanting to read, or at least skim, the final book to see what happens. #doublespin

I don‘t share the internet‘s fall fetishism. I hate being cold and I love greenery. The leaves are pretty while they last, but they fall too durned fast here. Sigh.

It did hit 30° today, though—maybe the last truly warm day of the year—and I celebrated by reading outside for a while.

I‘m always interested to see how my opinions shift with the series I reread over and over. This‘s my sixth time through the first three books in Monette‘s Doctrine of Labyrinths, and I loved MÉLUSINE more than THE VIRTU when the opposite‘s usually the case. And I always slide between thinking THE MIRADOR‘s great but not as great as the others and thinking it‘s amazing, but this time it‘s shaping up to be the BEST. Huh.

Red is my all-time favourite colour, and I've got this superstition that red (and reddish orange) books are more likely to be awesome than books of any other shade. These titles back me up. #anditsaugust
