Mehso-so

First fiction I have read about the military dictatorship. It was dark and partly imaginary, with several of the characters murdered in the war (which you figure out along the way). Didn‘t love it but skimmed all the way to the end.

Pickpick

Tomás returns to Argentina for the first time 10 years after fleeing during revolution to see a dear friend who is dying. He encounters there the ghosts of his past. There‘s a magical realism element here that didn‘t work for me (even though I often like MR), but overall his story during revolutionary times is compelling and devastating, so I‘m giving this a pick.

Megabooks You really do have the best library...sigh. Mine‘s not nearly as good with audiobook variety. 3y
Hooked_on_books @Megabooks I actually have access to 2 library systems, both of which are great. I‘ll tell you a secret. I used to live in Grants Pass, OR and because of COVID restrictions, they are offering library cards online, where you can access the Oregon library consortium electronic library resources. Don‘t tell anyone I told you, but you can get one, too, and I got this book from them. 🤫 3y
Megabooks @Hooked_on_books even if you‘re not in Oregon? And of course I‘ll not share publicly. I have two libraries, but both carry similar books because they‘re just across the Ohio river from each other. It‘s nice because sometimes there isn‘t overlap or it‘s available immediately at one and not the other, but it would be fantastic to have one in a completely different area. 3y
Hooked_on_books @Megabooks Yup, you don‘t have to live there. As I recall, when I signed up, they didn‘t even ask. I‘m sure it‘s not intended for everyone everywhere to sign up, but I figure I return audiobooks so quickly that I leave a relatively small footprint. 😬 3y
