Panpan

Half- Bail/Half-Pan - I did make it over 50% on this; and I did stop because I cannot read one more page.
I have literally no idea what‘s happened ~ what I think about any of the characters or happenings ~ what I think is going to happen. All I know is that I do not care. I‘ve come to love JCO as of late, so reading her first novel seemed like a great idea. Alas, it turned out to be terrible.
Running, not walking, away from this one...

Mehso-so

JCO's first novel was much like her first collection of short stories: mixed. The story is thin, there are too many digressions, and I'm not sure what it's trying to say *thematically.* But the writing, the emotions, the immersive, dream-like nature of it all is quite gorgeous! If you enjoy Megan Abbott or Emma Cline, you might like this one. Just keep in mind that it is very much a first novel! #jcojourney

quirkyreader That's wonderful. I got most of her books on the second hand market and in the early 1990's it seemed like Barnes and Nobel has a new tittle on the bargain books pile every week. Now it's no more 1.99 or .99 cent barging 8y
quirkyreader Darn stupid iPad keys, now the price of books has gone way up and I can't afford the books at B&N. 8y
