This book was really good but definitely not for the faint of heart. There‘s graphic torture scenes throughout the book. It has a similar tone to Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan so if you enjoyed that book you should definitely check it out. I can‘t wait to read more from this author because it was hard to put this one down.

I wanted to read this YA fantasy novel because of the f/f romance, but the cover was really off putting.

Borrowed audiobook from Hoopla, enjoyed it, AND THEN THE LAST PARAGRAPH HAPPENED and I demand a sequel! 🥺

Song magic prevails in the Queendom of Bordea, where music is magic--at least for those gifted with it. But for Principal singer to the queen, Cadence, her voice is a curse she is forced to wield as a weapon. A rebellion is brewing, though, and her childhood friend Remi might finally convince her to stand up to the queen once and for all. There were aspects of this book where I wanted more depth and nuance, but I enjoyed it quite a bit overall.
