2 posts | 2 read | 1 reading | 3 to read
From award-winning author Karen Blumenthal, Jane Against the World is deep and passionate look at the riveting history of the fight for reproductive rights in the United States. Tracing the path to the landmark decision in Roe v. Wade and the continuing battle for women's rights, Blumenthal examines, in a straightforward tone, the root causes of the current debate around abortion and repercussions that have affected generations of American women. This eye-opening book is the perfect tool to facilitate difficult discussions and awareness of a topic that is rarely touched on in school but affects each and every young person. It's also perfect for fans of Steve Sheinkin and Deborah Heiligman. This journalistic look at the history of abortion and the landmark case of Roe v. Wade is an important and necessary book.

This is a great book for understanding the legality of Roe and the cases that preceded it, making way for it. Chapters include the stories of peoplx who fought to make contraception legal, those involved with Roe, and its timeline (it was heard several times before the decision was issued); a list of cases that made it to SCOTUS, and the constant chipping away at Roe. As of now, this book is already out of date, and Roe has been overturned.

JenniferEgnor We are two weeks away from the midterm elections. I hope you all know how important it is that we vote. Voting will not be the final solution, but it is still a right, and a powerful one. Roe was just the beginning. They will not stop there. Each day, more horrific stories come out. Please speak up, please vote. Get involved in the fight for reproductive justice, and stand firm. This is literally the fight for our lives. 2y
