Who's That Girl
Who's That Girl | Mhairi McFarlane
An achingly funny story from the author of the bestselling YOU HAD ME AT HELLO What s the one thing you do at a wedding? Kiss your groom. What s the one thing you DON T do at a wedding? Kiss someone else s groom. When Edie is caught in a compromising position at her colleagues wedding, all the blame falls on her turns out that personal popularity in the office is not that different from your schooldays. Ostracised by everyone she knows, shamed online, her boss suggests an extended sabbatical. He has the perfect project to fill it ghostwriting an autobiography for hot new acting talent, Elliot Owen. All she has to do is keep her head down and get on with the star. Easy, right? Wrong. Banished back to her home town of Nottingham, Edie is not only dealing with a celebrity megabrat of epic proportions but also facing the ghosts of her past as she moves back in with her widowed father and layabout sister. As she questions the woman she has become, Edie realises that turning to look at her past is not just painful it could potentially change her future."

I love a super cheesy rom com book. This one started a little slow and incredibly cringey, but by the end I was loving it. Edie accidentally snogs the groom at a coworkers wedding. So she's exiled to her hometown to ghostwrite the autobiography of a 'Game Of Thrones With The Serial Numbers Removed' heart-throb. Shenanigans ensure.

I've been waiting and waiting for this book because I love her work and my friends in England told me it was wonderful--and then I gobbled it up in one day. Sooo mad at myself. It's wonderful. Dry British wit with a movie star hero who is seriously lovable. #romantsy

(Read last week) Marian Keyes & Mhairi McFarlane are my favourite Rom Com writers, hands down. I preordered this as a post-viva treat: great characters, excellent dialogue & love McFarlane's commitment to set stories outside of London! Also related in A Big Way to part of plot. So that was fun 😏

A THOUSAND TIMES YES TO THIS BOOK! This cemented Mhairi McFarlane as my fave contemporary author. She just perfectly captures what it's like to be a woman, a single woman, today. She knows how to make you laugh and cry and feel. If you're thinking about reading Eligible, I'd recommend this instead.
