Smudgy in Monsterland
Smudgy in Monsterland | Paul Rasche
1 post | 1 read
It is the thousandth year of the Third Reich, and the Solar System is under the control of mysteriously absent Fuhrer Heinrich Himmler. Odo, our protaganist, is a 10 year old boy who lives on a vast amusement park in orbit around Neptune. After his parents are killed in a Satanic terrorist attack, Odo is sent to live at an orphanage. Here, he is beaten and humiliated by the other orphans, until his fear of death leads him into a demon's trap, and he finds himself tricked into an eternity of previously-unimaginable torment. With nothing but his wits and deepening insanity to guide him, Odo wages a bizarre, intense, and bloody war against his tormentors, culminating in a meeting with Satan himself.

Mehso-so

this book is graphic, and preteen me was hooked
i wasn‘t disappointed
it was fun, violent, gripping and the twists were perfectly executed
the main character was hard to connect with but you could see yourself in him
the book wasn‘t scary through its story but it‘s characters
maybe that‘s why the story felt lacking
sometimes it felt more like a well-written wattpad doc than a published book
6/10 - the characters were more developed than the plot
