2 posts | 2 read | 2 to read
The author of Hunger of Memory and Days of Obligation concludes his "trilogy of American public life" by contemplating the many cultural associations of the color brown--toil, decay, impurity, and time--as he considers the meaning of Hispanics in American society. Reprint.

Mehso-so

⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I‘ve had this book on my shelves for over 15 years...I think the author may have spoken at my university. He ruminates on the complexities of race, on sociocultural designations of “identities” in a way that was challenging for me to follow. A dense read for a non-academic.
