Reality Bites Fortitude Scotts life is a mess. A degree in film theory has left him with zero marketable skills, his job revolves around pouring coffee, his roommate hasnt paid rent in four months, and hes also a vampire. Well, sort of. Hes still mostly human. But when a new vampire comes into his familys territory and young girls start going missing, Fort cant ignore his heritage anymore. His mother and his older, stronger siblings think hes crazy for wanting to get involved. So its up to Fort to take action, with the assistance of Suzume Hollis, a dangerous and sexy shape-shifter. Fort is determined to find a way to outsmart the deadly vamp, even if he isnt quite sure how. But without having matured into full vampirehood and with Suzume ready to split if things get too risky, Forts rescue mission might just kill him.

So this book was not at all what I expected! I was expecting some teeny-bopper vampire romance that I would strongly dislike; instead I found a rather intelligent story with a very relatable main character and a perspective on the creation of new vampires that I had never heard before. Loved it!!!

StephTKO Darn, I was hoping this would be a teeny bopper romance. But I'm glad you liked it. 😭 8y
callunakeep @StephTKO You might still like it, it is very angtsy, and there is a little bit of sexual/romantic tension that could grow in the rest of the series.😝 8y

There have been many Star Trek and other Sci-Fi references in this book making me a happy little nerdy-geek so far; but this line made this little Whovian do the happy dance!!!

BookFreakOut Lol, I've got a few Dalek shirts myself! 8y
callunakeep @BookFreakOut I read that while wearing my "wibbly wobbly timey wimey" shirt! ? 8y

Ha! I was already relating well to Fortitude with his distaste for and desire to be something other than what he is, his unappreciated lack of formality and unkempt fashion sense. But when he stole this thought right of out of my head he won a piece of my heart! 😝

Just checked this out from the library. I read a review of Dark Ascension by @Sarrie that caught my interest! I am loving LITSY! 😊

StephTKO Is this like an angsty romance occasional sexy time type situation? 8y
callunakeep @StephTKO I have no idea! 😝 I only got a 21 pages in as I downloaded it very late. It does seem angsty to a certain degree...a reluctant young vampire (in his 20's not a teen); the blurb doesn't make it sound too romancy or sexy time, but I will soon find out! 8y
PurlSquirrel @StephTKO No! It's a slightly angsty not-a-romance with awesome characters, a creative twist in the vampire mythos, and no sexy time despite the presence of an unexpected and delightful female lead that compliments the male lead quite well. 8y
