For Vinca, "love is everything or nothing." She will never be seen again. The Côte d'Azur - Present day Once inseparable, Manon, Thomas and Maxime -- Vinca's best friends -- have not spoken since graduation. They meet again at their reunion. Twenty-five years earlier, under terrible circumstances, the three of them committed a murder and buried the bodyin the gymnasium wall, the same wall that is about to be demolished to make way for an ultramodern new building. What really happened that long-ago winter night? Now nothing stands in the way of the truth coming out. Mehso-so

Thomas returns to his old high school on the Côte d‘Azur to attend his 25th reunion. A lot of shit went down back in the day and all those secrets come bubbling to the surface. I dunno. Maybe it‘s because it‘s a translation, but I found it all a bit over the top and neither thrilling or suspenseful. ? #bookspin #doublespin @TheAromaofBooks

vlwelser His books are also weird in French. 3y

I had so many hopes for this one....I think the story could have been done so much better. It was very clear it was translated from French which sometimes isn't the case. To me it seemed disjointed in places and I struggled with the names of characters. Also I found it quite difficult to follow and quite political in places. I found myself skipping chunks and finding that it didn't impact on the story. Disappointing.

Books tell us stories, they allow us to vicariously live out snippets of other lives, but they cannot take you in their arms and comfort you when you're scared.

An impulse buy from Waterstones. I love anything like this so fingers crossed it doesn't disappoint 🤓

MrT Translated from French? 5y
Matilda @MrT yes. I haven‘t seen a translator listed but the novel published last year in France and already had a series in development there. 5y
