I had so many hopes for this one....I think the story could have been done so much better. It was very clear it was translated from French which sometimes isn't the case. To me it seemed disjointed in places and I struggled with the names of characters. Also I found it quite difficult to follow and quite political in places. I found myself skipping chunks and finding that it didn't impact on the story. Disappointing.

Books tell us stories, they allow us to vicariously live out snippets of other lives, but they cannot take you in their arms and comfort you when you're scared.

An impulse buy from Waterstones. I love anything like this so fingers crossed it doesn't disappoint 🤓

Picked this up to today, it's set in France which isn't normally my style but looking forward to giving it a go 🤓
