“Coral Reefs are home to thousands of plants and animals. There are so many species living in reefs that they are often called the cities of the seas.“
My favorite part about this book was the illustrations!
Coral Reefs by Jason Chin was an interesting read. During an ordinary visit to the library, a girl pulls a not-so-ordinary book from the shelves. As she turns the pages in this book about coral reefs, the city around her slips away and she finds herself surrounded by the coral cities of the sea and the plants and animals that live, hunt, and hide there. This book is intriguing because it is not so ordinary. I think children would love this!
I loved how this book begins by a young girl who grabs a book and becomes engulfed by the beautiful coral reefs and slips away from her city. This eye-catching beginning will capture the students imaginations as they will get excited to learn more about coral reefs. Exciting introductions like this will excite children to learn more about a topic such as coral reefs.
