Ugh 😩
Okay let me start by saying I like the main character. She is a rape victim who came out of it being stronger and better than she was before. Okay cool... moving on... it's just cliche after cliche, plot hole after plot hole.... there is so much going on that it makes your head spin. Not to mention the writing is so over-the-top it is ridiculous. I mean, come on!!! I thought only Arnold Schwarzenegger said lines that cheesy! For real! DNF

Freespirit I just saw all your posts and thought poor you...sometimes you just get a run of ordinary books😬🤣 5y
BeansPage @Freespirit yes that is true. I'm trying to clear off some room on my bookshelves because I am receiving so many ARCs I have nowhere to put them. But yes I do have a run here of not-so-great ones but I think my luck is about to change here pretty soon. I've got some good looking ones sitting right in front of me. 😍😍😍 5y

Not quite a pick, but kind of more than so-so. I like the premise; the writing is solid; and the world building isn‘t bad considering this is a debut novel. The story started off interesting, took a bit of a weird turn (the whole Zodiac light/shadow concept), but then went really weird, which bugged me the rest of the book. So I don‘t know. I‘ll have to think about it for a while. Maybe if I start book 2...

#30JuneBooks Day 1: current read

I‘m a little behind, but trying to catch up. I ordered this off PaperbackSwap because the premise sounded intriguing. I‘m not crazy about the cover because I dislike when the publisher opts to largely feature endorsements from other authors on the front.

As for the book, I‘m about 1/2 through, but have mixed feelings. We‘ll see how it ends.

Mehso-so

I loved the first 30%, and then a thing happened and I was irritated at that and various other things throughout the rest of it. I'm starting to think that this kind of paranormal just really isn't my thing. Good vs evil, angels vs demons, light vs dark, etc can be so boring sometimes.

wanderinglynn Was the thing that irritated you that they changed Joanna to look like Olivia? Because I just finished this and that was weird & bugged me throughout the rest of the book. (edited) 5y
SarahSaysRead @wanderinglynn OMG YES!! That was so weird, I hated it. 5y
wanderinglynn I‘m glad I‘m not the only one that was disturbed by that. 5y

I read this book when it first came out. I liked it enough to buy the second one in the series. I think I will reread it. If I remember correctly it starts with the protagonist sitting in a restaurant waiting on a blind date. Said date tried to kill her. I was reading it at a restaurant, I almost went home instead of staying to eat.

This was the book that helped me from my book hangover of the fever series! A great series of a sister seeking revenge of the death of her sister by assuming her sister's identity! Then meet the light characters who fight the dark characters. Really great series and a twisted love story!!
