I would use this book in a classroom because I think the children would be very interested in this artist, especially because he cut off his own ear. This book is also good to read to a class because we can then move our discussion to his artwork and legacy.

This is a good biography to read to children because the subject's life offers interest and meaning for today's child by informing the children of an interesting artist who did not become famous until after he died.

Before this book, the only thing I knew about Van Gogh was that he has cut his ear off and painted starry night. This book helped teach me so much more about who he truly was and his passion for art. I think that this would be a great story for any age group because they have pictures of his art within the story. Younger children would love to look at the art, and older children could read the story more.

Pickpick

This biography book is good because lots of contexts in Van Gogh's life were integrated into this story. It not only talked about his great successes, but also brought forth the idea of his shortcomings. I also believe it was a good fast-paced narrative that wasn't too over-simplified to where it was to broad.

This book would be perfect to older children wanting to learn about art and the culture around it. Vincent Van Gogh is known to be an incredible artist and this book elaborates on his life in a fascinating way appropriate for the younger ages!
