Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt
Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt | Anne Rice
8 posts | 46 read | 13 to read
Having completed the two cycles of legend to which she has devoted her career so far, Anne Rice gives us now her most thoughtful and powerful book, a novel about the childhood of Christ the Lord based on the gospels and on the most respected New Testament scholarship. The books power derives from the passion its author brings to the writing, and the way in which she summons up the voice, the presence, the words of the young Jesus who tells the story. From the Hardcover edition.

I really enjoyed the vampire chronicles and decided to give this one a try by Anne Rice. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to take such a liking to the story. The authors note at the end is definitely worthy of respect. It is enlightening to learn of the of the labor and research that goes into the forming of a historical work of fiction.

Like her Vampire Chronicles, Anne Rice creates another well researched, historical novel that weaves together the early years of Christ.
