Fame: Stripping Celebrity Bare | David Gritten
1 post | 1 read | 1 to read
It seems we can't get enough of celebrities today. Our TV screens, magazines and newspapers are filled as never before with famous singers, actors, models, even footballers and chefs. And, in the age of Big Brother and Pop Idol, it's easier than ever to become a star. Anyone, it appears, can get their 15 minutes if they want it badly enough.

Pickpick

I just finished reading this book about the reality and consequences of fame. The subtitle and cover image is as lurid as the press depictions he criticises, he can be very judgemental, and the examples are all a little dated (it was published in 2002) but it was interesting. I especially liked the chapter on celebrities who are more comfortable with fame and have used it to further good causes, like Dolly Parton and Steven Spielberg.
