pickI loved the way this book held everything solidly in the background of the protagonist's relationship. Moving through the end of Prohibition, the Depression and the changes in queer persecution, the focus remains on Vik and his acceptance of himself and his sexuality despite family, his place in the Russian mafia, and his cynical approach to lasting romantic relationships.
