Very informative, but dry. Does not speak much of application of Stoicism to modern society-
one quote references “spending too much time emptying one‘s bowels” along with too much drinking or copulating.

Also many essentially state, “if someone disagrees with you, who cares they‘ll be dead soon”
This is meant for you to ponder the expanse of time, and seek only you own validation. I did not find it inspiring.

Structure of the book was good.

…I don‘t think I could have ended up with 2 more opposite books than these two 🙈

Both audiobooks that have been in my library forever. We‘ll see if they should have stayed there…

tokorowilliamwallace This means they should inform each other well, and make for some unique gleaned perspective, on your part! Looking forward to your comments on the book on Stoicism. I was recommended the school/methodology of philosophy from a girl I highly respected and who was on point in her understanding of me and her other recommendation for me in the Polish poetess, Wislawa Szymborska. Apt and very sentimentally impactful at the time---serendipitous timing. 2y

5feet.of.fury @tokorowilliamwallace I‘m starting it today, so we shall see. I recommend Ryan Holiday‘s books if you are looking for material on stoicism in general! I read Obstacle is the Way last year and it was very informative but easily digestible. 2y
