Bad Machinery Volume 3: The Case of the Simple Soul
Bad Machinery Volume 3: The Case of the Simple Soul | John Allison
8 posts | 8 read | 2 to read
"A good, humorous addition to school and public libraries' graphic novel collections." - "School Library Journal" The Tackleford gang is back with a new case that demands solving! When Tackleford's derelict barns begin going up in flames, Linton and Sonny are on the case with a moderately mysterious new friend. Paths cross, however, when Lottie and Mildred meet a terrifying yet misunderstood creature living beneath a bridge! Throw in an overly enthusiastic Fire Brigade, a transforming skate ramp, and a new French teacher and you've got the kind of charming genius that can only be found in John Allison's BAD MACHINERY.

Mehso-so

I preferred Volume 2, and almost forgot to log and review this book as a result. I like how the girls have been developed and appreciate their care toward the troll. On the other hand, I would like to see more character development of the boys too in the future volumes. I didn't love the ending, but I liked the book as a whole and Allison's work in general enough to read the next one.

Pickpick

For some reason I thought I had the first volume, so I was confused by the “jump right in” style and had to find my bearings. I enjoyed it, though, and will go back and read the first two.

Currently too migraine to read new stuff / lots of text, revisiting some old favorites. Charlotte is the best and this is probably my favorite quote from the series thusfar, after she says no to a date.

When Charlotte and Mildred (they're about 12 years old) talk about their dream guys and then draw them...yeah, I read this panel last night and I'm still giggling.
