Milwaukee Then and Now
Milwaukee Then and Now | Sandra Ackerman
2 posts | 1 read | 1 to read
As part of the popular Then and Now series, the city of Milwaukee is celebrated with archival photographs shown alongside specially commissioned contemporary images of the same scene. This visual account features over 100 photographs. It shows us how Milwaukee has evolved into the city it is today—a diverse range of architectural styles, where the massive arches of the old Federal Building, sleek lines of late 20th century high-rise offices, and the imposing mansions of Lake Drive all present one fascinating landscape.

You MUST check out Renaissance Books in the airport- awesome stuff. Downtown Books isn‘t far from the art museum. (My fave is the public museum.) @Jbakesmcgee3 have you been to Downtown Books? 6y

Pickpick

I love the history of place. This book reminded me how much history there is in my hometown even though it is barely 200 years old.

TR and BL: The photo pairs look virtually unchanged.

TL and BR: The price of progress. Once a baseball field, now a beautiful freeway!

Middle: The beauty of progress. The empty lakefront is now the center of a vibrant nature, art, and festival scene.
