Just Show Up
Just Show Up: The Dance of Walking through Suffering Together | Kara Tippetts, Jill Lynn Buteyn
3 posts | 3 read | 3 to read
Kara Tippettss story was not a story of disease, although she lost her battle with terminal cancer. It was not a story of saying goodbye, although she was intentional in her time with her husband and four children. Karas story was one of seeing God in the hard and in the good. It was one of finding grace in the everyday. And it was one of knowing God with us through fierce and beautiful friendship. In Just Show Up, Kara and her close friend, Jill Lynn Buteyn, write about what friendship looks like in the midst of changing life seasons, loads of laundry, and even cancer. Whether you are eager to be present to someone going through a difficult time or simply want inspiration for pursuing friends in a new way, this eloquent and practical book explores the gift of silence, the art of receiving, and what it means to just show up.

I should have known it wouldn‘t be a good idea to read the last bit I had left of this book on break at work.. 😭

If you have ever supported someone going through immense hardships or you know you will be, I recommend this book. Kara‘s story and the story of the friends that supported her is truly inspiring.

Note: The authors write from a Christian worldview but the book itself is not too heavy with Christian language though.

My family has been through a terrible year, just really awful. This book gives such great advise in just the first few chapters I have read so far. It is currently on sale on Amazon for $1.99.

I realised today that I love having a TBR list. Just chatting to my sister ( 22 years older than me ) she said how anxious she got growing up , not knowing where the next book would come from. How lucky & affluent are we , with our TBR lists !!

Cathythoughts @DivineDiana another sister story 💕#sisterswhoread (edited) 2y

batsy Lovely stories about #sisterswhoread. I honestly don't think I would have become a reader if not for the access to books that my older sisters (9 & 10 years old) had around 💕 @DivineDiana 2y
DivineDiana @batsy We are so lucky to have our sisters! 2y
batsy @DivineDiana Yes so true! Also to clarify I meant to write "9 & 10 years older than me" in previous comment ? 2y
