Fat Witch Brownies
Fat Witch Brownies: Brownies, Blondies, and Bars from New York's Legendary Fat Witch Bakery | Patricia Helding, Bryna Levin
3 posts | 1 read
At long last, the owner of New York City's legendary Fat Witch Bakery shares her top-secret recipes for decadent and delicious brownies, blondies, and bars. Patricia Helding's rich, intensely chocolatey Fat Witch brownie is a New York obsession, an internet sensation, and arguably the very best brownie to be found on the planet. Unlike other bakeries that feature a range of desserts, Fat Witch, launched by Helding in 1998, specializes only in brownies--baking and selling over 2,000 each day. In Fat Witch Brownies, Helding showcases for the first time her favorite spins on the classic chocolate brownie with creations like the Banana Bread Brownie and the Breakfast Brownie, and she expands her repertoire even further with recipes for other scrumptious bar-shaped confections. With over 50 recipes that can be baked in the same 9 x 9-inch pan and require fewer than 10 ingredients, Helding shows that baking from scratch is neither expensive nor time-consuming. All of her recipes include ingredients from local grocery stores, and are ready to serve in one hour or less. Beginning with tips on the proper tools, timing, and techniques, continuing with five chapters of recipes, and finishing with fabulous frostings, Fat Witch Brownies allows you to explore the versatility and richness of brownies and bars and create the incredible desserts in your very own kitchen that have made Helding's bakery famous.

#WinterGames2020 #SelfieScavengerHunt #SelfieBakingAHolidayTreat Red faced, sweaty & exhausted but I managed to clean the kitchen, prep & cook chicken & veg stir fry for dinner then bake some more Anzac biscuits & chocolate brownies as a holiday treat. Rather proud of myself😎 16pts for Team #MerryReaders

1) Ice Cream. I don't even buy it regularly due to lack of self control.
2) Absolutely not.
3) No, but I've received A LOT of "warnings". We're talking at least 15.
4) All three! Depends on my mood.

A bonus day off as I await delivery of our new oven. I haven't been able to bake in over 3 months so I am planning out my weekend. The oven will be christened with traditional chocolate chips cookies, but what will I do next? 😊🍪🍞🍰

Zelma Holy moly, enjoy! After a month or two with no oven, we christened the new one with frozen pizza. 😂 and it was delicious! 6y
Swe_Eva I'm making smörbullar this weekend - that Fika-book in your stack should have a recipe! Recommended! #droolingalready 6y
AWahle @Swe_Eva The Fika book didn't have it so I looked them up. It's funny the same cookie has so many different names - I know them as Russian Tea Cakes or Mexican Wedding Cookies! 6y

Swe_Eva @AWahle What, no smörbullar? Funny, I didn‘t know the Danes called those cookies smørbullar. Those are Russian tea cakes to me too. To us Swedes, this is smörbullar: https://www.hemmets.se/smorbullar-som-pa-mormors-tid/ (sorry, couldn‘t find a link in English). 6y
Swe_Eva @AWahle It‘s a yeasted bun with cardamom and an almond paste/butter/sugar mix in the middle. It‘s heaven. 6y
AWahle @Swe_Eva Oh that sounds heavenly! I will track it down in English. Hubby loves cardamom so he'd go nuts for those. 6y
readinginthedark @Swe_Eva That sounds amazing! 6y
readinginthedark Hm...maybe something with lemon since it‘s getting warmer? 6y
AWahle @readinginthedark I'm going to be trying something new with a lemon bundt cake on Monday. (So my coworkers can taste test on Tuesday) I'll post if it's successful! 🍋 6y
readinginthedark 👍🏻Yum, sounds good! 6y
Swe_Eva @readinginthedark It is the stuff that angels are made of. 👍🏻😁 6y
