Honestly, this is one of the best books I‘ve read this year. Heikkila‘s take on vampire lore is smart and fresh, not to mention she makes you care about the central characters whose relationship is fraught for a reason that‘s not contrived. The way she draws the facial expressions of the characters is lovely and conveys so much without words.
