I‘ve started working, so I‘ve been reading a lot of children‘s books. This is one of the many I‘ve found cute and fallen in love with 💜💜💜 Real Merida vibes!

I feel like this was probably a nice break from the norm with a girl breaking gender stereotypes when it was released in 2001, but now, there is so much better stuff out there. It felt dated, including in the illustrations, especially with the note at the end that, hey, don‘t worry - the princess still gets married. This was okay, but not one I would recommend either as a picture book about gender nonconformity or powerful female role models.
