Poetry as Insurgent Art
Poetry as Insurgent Art | Lawrence Ferlinghetti
3 posts | 3 read | 3 to read
From the groundbreaking "A Coney Island of the Mind" in 1958 to the personal epic of "Americus, Book I" in 2003, Ferlinghetti has been the poetic conscience of America. In this work, he offers--in prose--what poetry is, could be, and should be.

Got this today at Ferlinghetti's City Lights in San Francisco. Just a few days after Ferlinghetti's 100th birthday. I read this my first semester in college and fell in love. My professor had let me borrow her copy. I now have my own.

Happy Birthday Lawrence! Thank you for all that you've done and continue to do!

OMG. Haha. I took this pic for my tea business social media and then flipped it open to “Stash your sell-phone and be here now.” So I‘m gonna post it with no hashtags. Thanks for the reminder, Lawrence! 📖🤓❤️ The one on the right was just published by New Directions. Had to have it.

Leftcoastzen Yay, Ferlinghetti! 6y
