I really enjoyed this poem as it discussed the harsh realities of social injustices. In addition, the poem was beautifully illustrated and as it expressed the freedoms the boy would like to experience in his life.

This is a poem with an underlying meaning about being segregated. It has a fast rhythm because of the short lines. It incorporates sense imagery as it talks about the warm sun beating down and a cool evening under the shade of a tall, slim tree.
It is about a little black boy who dreams of not being segregated and of twirling in the sun.

#DecemberSong Day 23: Not really #CarolOfTheBells but this illuminated version of Hughes‘ Dream Variation is quite powerful. Apart from portraying the racial inequality through his art, Miyares also captured the beautiful sense of dreaming and the fierce sense of pride in owning one‘s identity. Langston Hughes “Dream Variation” with gorgeous illustrations. 💙
This is just beautiful. Everything about it. Hughes‘s words. Miyares‘s art. The combo is breathtaking. It is powerful, yet still approachable. I love everything about it. Read it to kids so they can see what poetry can do.
My first poem book (April is National Poetry Month)in the form of a children‘s picture book 💕 Loved reading about a young boy dreaming of a world with equality & compassion 😊😊 A must read for all ages! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Daniel Miyares gorgeously illustrates Langston Hughes‘s “Dream Variation.” Every page is beautiful.
