Mahabharata
Mahabharata | William Buck
1 post | 2 read | 3 to read
William Buck has condensed the story. The old translation from which he worked covers 5800 pages of print, while his own book is less than a tenth of that length. But by and large, Buck's rendition reflects the sequence of events in the Sanskrit epic, and he uses the traditional techniques for instance, of stories within stories, flashbacks, moral lessons laid in the mouths of principal characters.

It had been about two years since I was forced to buy this book by my father, and I‘ve never had the interest to open it. Even when recommending, I told people to not buy this book but I never read the book myself. I regret not recommending this book tbh, I opened in few days ago and the story, the way it was written, the characters, they held me captive. I finished the whole book within 3 sittings. Highly recommend it to Indologists!
