Cooking Solo
Cooking Solo: The Joy of Cooking for Yourself | Klancy Miller
6 posts | 2 to read
100 delicious recipes to make meals for yourself with style, sophistication, and the occasional indulgence At a time when 31 million American adults live alone, Klancy Miller is here to show that cooking for one is something to embrace. While making single servings from other cookbooks means scaling down ingredients, adjusting cooking times, or being stuck with leftovers, Cooking Solo gives readers just what they need to make a delicious mealall for themselves. Among the few other cooking for one books, this is the first by a hip young woman, whose vibrance and enthusiasm for cooking for herself comes through in the 100 attractive recipes like Tahitian Noodle Sandwich, Smoked Duck Breast Salad, Spicy Pork Burger with Coconut, and Mackerel with Lemon and Capers. Klancy also includes a chapter on entertaining at home, because being single still means having fun with friends.

Non-book related but here's my first attempt at stuffed pepper soup (because I'm too lazy to make real stuffed peppers).

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Looks good!!! 6y

[DELETED] 57804897 I adore stuffed pepper soup. That looks delicious! If you have an instant pot or a crockpot, I can recommend this recipe: https://www.skinnytaste.com/stuffed-pepper-soup/ for extra laziness, I add a cup and a half of Instant brown rice, and an extra cup of water. That way, you can make it at the last minute without having to worry about having the rice made ahead of time 6y

Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Thanks!! I may fix that tomorrow!! I had to google marjoram 🤫😁 @Ostaff1 6y
[DELETED] 57804897 I don‘t use marjoram much, but I‘ve made that recipe (and her Unstuffed Cabbage Bowls) so much that I had to buy a new container! It adds sweetness without calories. My kiddos have GERD, so I also routinely add 1/4 tsp baking soda to anything with canned tomatoes—neutralizes acid & subtly sweetens the dish. 6y

Food is an essential part of a good readathon, but I also have a bunch of other stuff I have to get done on the weekends, so my reading suffers. For the other people trying to adult and read all day, how are you managing?! I had to hang blinds and do yard work. As a treat, I've also baked a cake to enjoy with my book a little later. #24in48
