Tahmineh's Beautiful Bird
Tahmineh's Beautiful Bird | Pippa Goodhart, Parviz Kalantari
1 post | 1 read | 1 to read
The Qashghai are nomadic tribespeople in Iran who move around with their sheep, and live in tent homes. The wool they produce is particularly fine and strong, and brightly coloured after it has been dyed with flowers and herbs. Qashghai girls weave decorative artefacts from the wool, including chantehs which are woven carpet-like shoulder bags. Kalantari's paintings focus on the everyday life of nomad tribes, desert people, and those living by the sea.
