The Conservationists were fair game, those wild-eyed zealots who pretended modern civilization was in some way ‘plundering‘ our planet. Preposterous stuff. Science is always a step ahead of the failure of natural resources. After all, when real meat got scarce, we had soyaburgers ready. When oil ran low, technology developed the pedicab.

Pickpick

This was weird... but I liked it. The world is overpopulated, resources exploited, environment ruined, a ruling advertising elite exploits “consumers”.

It is a crazy story of crossings and double-crossings, a satire of consumerism and corporate greed, with an environmentalist bend... a mystery, an adventure, a love story, a business interest war... it is quite unlike anything I have ever read. Slow starting but fun from about 40% in. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Sounds really good to me! 6y
Gezemice @Riveted_Reader_Melissa I have had it sitting around for forever, and the library ban brought it to the front. Warning: I almost gave up at the beginning - it is quite boring until there is a big turning point in the story about 40% in. But I figured there had to be more for this to be a science fiction classic... and there was. 6y
