pickMapping Penny's World by Loreen Leedy is a great low F picture book that is perfect for a RA. This book would be great to read before a lesson on maps. I actually used this book as a RA in my microteach lesson as a way to provide background knowledge about the parts of a map in a fun way. EricaG The website gives you ideas on how to use this book in a lesson for different grade levels. The K-2 lesson focuses on teaching key vocabulary and how to use those concepts to make their own map. This meets EL 5- teach technical vocabulary supporting key concepts and EL 46- use discovery learning activities( hands-on-activities) by making their own maps. 7y
