Justice Calling
Justice Calling | Annie Bellet
Gamer. Nerd. Sorceress. Jade Crow lives a quiet life running her comic book and game store in Wylde, Idaho. After twenty-five years fleeing from a powerful sorcerer who wants to eat her heart and take her powers, quiet suits her just fine. Surrounded by friends who are even less human than she is, Jade figures she's finally safe. As long as she doesn't use her magic. When dark powers threaten her friends' lives, a sexy shape-shifter enforcer shows up. He's the shifter world's judge, jury, and executioner rolled into one, and he thinks Jade is to blame. To clear her name, save her friends, and stop the villain, she'll have to use her wits... and her sorceress powers. Except Jade knows that as soon as she does, a far deadlier nemesis awaits. Justice Calling is the first book in The Twenty-Sided Sorceress urban fantasy series.

Mehso-so

A soft so-so because I liked the nerdy bits & had no expectations.

This is a short book. With a bit more fleshing out, it *might* have been better. But because it‘s so short, there is a lack of world building & character development. There was an attempt at character development, including what should have been a pivotal moment for the MC, but it didn't really work.

I‘ll go on to books 2 & 3 because it was a package deal on Audible.

wanderinglynn Also, the narrator sounds like a 12-year-old, which didn't help since the MC is supposed to be near 50, although she apparently looks closer to 30. Either way, the narrator wasn't the best. 1y

I live in truck country where your redneck manliness is apparently determined by the size of your truck. It‘s a huge pet peeve of my husband‘s and mine that so many people feel the need to drive these massive trucks that serve no actual purpose... so I loved this description!

I really enjoyed this book, but it could use the help of a geek savy editor.

First in the Twenty-Sided Sorceress series. Jade Crow lives in Wylde Idaho, and runs her shop (Pwned Comics and Games) and seeks only a quite life in hiding from her murderous ex. Her friends and neighbours think she is a hedge-witch and all is going reasonably well until Alek (were-tiger and Justice) turns up and accuses her of being a murderer.
Entertaining, action-packed and an interesting world. Devour it!

This is a great book! It appeals different taste in books, such a nerdy gamers and the paranormal. You will love the shifters, witches and of course the sorceress.
