An insightful overview of the philosophy of the Stoics, particularly Epictetus, told by a contemporary philosophy, full of useful examples and comparisons. The author's style is smart yet accessible and this is a good place to start for those interested in the topic.
5/5💚s
This book was really conversational (I love the use of parentheses and side thoughts) and used personal examples of the author to explain Stoic concepts in a way that was also humble. I loved the connections he made to science, biology, & psychology while drawing upon Stoic texts as if he was conversing with an ancient Stoic teacher. Definitely recommend for those new to Stoicism (like me) and even those well versed.

Started this book for work a week or so ago (I‘m always reading one for work and one for fun) and thought I‘d dig in more while I await my fun book‘s delivery. 😊
So far I‘m loving the read especially its conversational feel and tie ins with science.

I highly recommend this to anyone with an interest in Stoicism. It's a nicely done introduction with practical excersises at the end of the book to show you how to apply this philosophy to your everyday life. #philosophy
