The Race was compromised of four novellas tied together loosely at times and closely at others. As much as I wanted to know more about the world Allan built for the first story "Jenna," with the smart dogs and environmental cautions;I was equally happy to read about "Christy" and her struggles in modern day times with her brother. Beautifully written prose and characters made up for any disappointment with what I was getting into on this one.

Hoping for a badass environmental justice theme and some complex female characters. Also, I'm intrigued by genetically modified dog racing... Greyhounds with human DNA? Hmmm...
