Symposium | 
I have not been as active here in recent months due to a three month run of working on shows. It kept me busy but also meant I was not able to scroll through here as much as I love to. Hopefully I can balance things a bit better in the coming year, and not keep myself so busy. Also, a friend asked me to be in the adaptation of this as Diotima. It is gonna be a lot but I am excited to dig into this script.

TsundokuAleax @PippoRanito oh, can you give me more info on this? My director had trouble finding any other reference to her in ancient texts. Also, I am loving her part in the script. It is gonna be a bear to memorialize though. 5y
PippoRanito In the symposium, Socrates says that he learned what "love" is from Diotima. And that Diotima, in urging the citizens of Athens to do some sacrifices, delayed the onset of the plague. ? Let me quote the full passage. 5y
PippoRanito "And now I shall let you alone, and proceed with the discourse upon Love which I heard one day from a Mantinean woman named Diotima: in this subject she was skilled, and in many others too; for once, by bidding the Athenians offer sacrifices ten years before the plague, she procured them so much delay in the advent of the sickness. Well, I also had my lesson from her in love-matters. . ." 5y
