Pickpick

Definitely my favorite book so far of this year. Still feeling a little shaky because of the history on its own terms, and how similar it is to highly visible issues in the US today. We follow Bertha, and sometimes others, from the waning years of the Russian Empire into the fledging years of the USSR. This is a book about the pogroms, and everyday hatred of Jews in that country. The characters are flawed, complex and worth following. #jewlit
