Radiohead and Philosophy
Radiohead and Philosophy: The Wrath of Kant | Jason T. Eberl, Brandon W. Forbes
4 posts | 1 to read
Not only is Radiohead the most innovative and influential rock bandit's also the most philosophically and culturally relevant. Since the 1993 breakthrough hit ""Creep,"" the band keeps on making waves, with its view of the Bush presidency (Hail to the Thief), its anti-corporatism, its ecologically conscious road tours, its videos, and its decision to sell In Rainbows online at a 'pay whatever you want' price. Composed by a team of Radiohead fans who also think for a living, Radiohead and Philosophy is packet like a crushed tin box with insights into the meaning and implications of Radiohead's work. Paranoid or not, you'll understand Radiohead better than any android. ""Can a rock band still matter? Can it be a positive force in a postmodern world? For millions, Radiohead can, and these thought-provoking essays address how and why Radiohead makes a difference by working at the margins of popular culture.""

I'm so ecstatic. Just bought tickets for his solo performance at my favorite music venue in KC. Have seen Radiohead twice now, a solo show sounds memorable.

saresmoore Awesome! 6y
vivastory @BestDogDad Are you going to his performance at Northrop U of M in December? 6y

madamereadsalot1 Lucky! Radiohead is on my bucket list! I love Thom York's solo stuff too! Enjoy!! 6y
vivastory @madamereadsalot1 If you ever get the chance to see them, definitely take it. The last time I saw them was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. They played for two and a half hours! 6y
madamereadsalot1 @vivastory I've heard they put on an epic show! A few friends of mine have told me that them and Sigur Ros are absolutely not to be missed live. One of these days, I hope I get the chance. I just don't want to go to a music festival to see them, and that's the only chance I've had. So I've skipped out 6y
vivastory @madamereadsalot1 I definitely second your friends statement about Sigur Ros. It's a religious experience, for sure. Yeah I would definitely wait to see them by themselves, it would ruin the experience a bit to catch them in a music festival. 6y
madamereadsalot1 @vivastory I can imagine! Just hearing their recordings, either albums or live performances, is such a beautiful thing! Chills.every.time. 6y
Suet624 You get to go to the best concerts! 6y
BestDogDad @vivastory Sigur Ros ❤️. I‘ve seen them three times in Minneapolis. Amazing, transcending, performances. Radiohead: best concert of my life. 6y
BestDogDad @vivastory No. Bummed out about this. I was in the presale queue immediately but wasn‘t chosen, and my friend wasn‘t able to get tickets during public sale. I was flying to the UK 🇬🇧 at the time of public sale. 6y
vivastory @BestDogDad I don't know if you would want to make the trip to KC, but I wound up with 2 extra general admission tickets. 6y
BestDogDad @vivastory thanks for the offer! Appreciated. It‘s not a bad drive but driving from MN is hit & miss in Dec so I think I‘ll stay hunkered down here. Enjoy! 6y

Concerts make me happy, although I don't attend as many as I did in my early twenties, watching a live performance by a favorite band is a rare treat. I saw Radiohead in St. Louis in 2008 & just bought tickets for their April show in KC. They are one of my favorite bands of all-time & I can't wait to see them again.
