Definitely not an easy read. Autobiography of a humanitarian doctor (and lawyer, and Nobel Peace Prize nominee) in Somalia during the civil war. Lots and lots of heart-rending stories. I learned a lot. If you're susceptible to depression, I recommend holding off on this one. But you can still donate to Dr. Abdi's foundation!

My goal for #bookspinbonanza was 176 pages a day. I'm averaging 139 pages per day so far, but we're about to hit the weekend, so I might catch up! 🤞🏻 Even if not, I've still finished four of my target books in the first week, so that's worthy of celebration! 🎉. @TheAromaofBooks

#bookspinbonanza daily update - 59 pages ahead yesterday and cumulatively 10 pages behind today. Got in a major anxiety spiral this afternoon trying to read the tagged book, so switched over to the next on the list (Because Internet) for now.

I'm going to be ambitious this month for the #bookspinbonanza! I've got a mix of fiction and non (14 fiction, 5 non, 1 poetry), mostly authors of color (10 Black authors, 3 Native / First Nations), and a couple of fluff pieces as rewards for some of the harder reads. I intentionally left out some reads that look like they're going to be heartbreaking (although some of these will be too). @TheAromaofBooks Excited for the next #bookspin!

So of course I've already broke my book buying ban, but it was for books that contribute to my #readaroundtheworld challenge so I think that's ok. 😳
