Office Tower Tales
Office Tower Tales | Alice Major
3 posts | 1 read | 2 to read
Through the light-hearted interplay of such literary touchstones as Chaucer, 'The Thousand and One Nights' and Greek myth, readers meet receptionist Aphrodite, Sheherazad in PR and Pandora, expectant grandmother from accounting, who gather to share tales during coffee breaks from their male-dominated engineering firm.

I‘ve just been asked to sign a waiver
so the boarding kennel manager
can hand out information to the vet
about the cat
in an emergency — a recent edict of the privacy act.
I‘m glad society‘s concerned about
protecting data on the cat‘s behalf.
He is a private animal, without a doubt,
has never answered
questions as to where he‘s been or where
he got that bird.

It‘s the first time I‘ve handled meteorites at a book launch! (I feel welcomed to the anthropocene.) Too bad there was cloud cover, because the observatory telescope was set up for viewing.

The launch for Alice Major‘s new poetry collection is being held in the observatory at the university of Alberta. I‘m excited to be in here for the first time, and to hear the new work. First up will be a short lecture about the anthropocene era, however.
