Interesting, spiritual, sinister fictional story about missing and murdered indigenous women. The art is gorgeous, the story is engrossing, there is a cute cat. Would recommend.

TW for violence against women.

An important comic book-length graphic novel because it brings attention to the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women. Suitable for age 12 and up.
Erin Leslie's black and white digital art is accented with red to good effect. I liked the use of pattern overlays: leafy shadows, Cree syllabics, wallpaper designs etc. Look up singer-songwriter Iskwe on YouTube for more about one of the creators.

This graphic novel is so powerful. It was written to bring attention to Indigenous women in Canada going missing, which I didn't realize was happening. I almost wish it were longer, but really, who could handle that? My heart beat so fast reading it, the fight or flight response almost kicking in, because my reaction to this was so visceral. Highly recommend! Trigger warning for violence against women. #netgalley
