There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Turkey!
There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Turkey! | Lucille Colandro

The old lady is at it again, and this time she's swallowing a Turkey . . . she's always been quirky! You won't believe why this old lady swallowed a turkey, a ball, a hat, a balloon, a boat, some wheels, and a horn of plenty! Read this book and find out why!

Pickpick

There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Turkey is a TL PB written by Lucille Colandro and illustrated by Jared Lee that I would use as a RA. I labeled this book as TL because I know it‘s a spin on the classic tale “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly” which was a favorite of mine when I was younger. This one is obviously more seasonal. This is just a crazy, fun book that kids will have a good time listening to.

jasminep This link https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/There-was-an-Old-Lady-Who-Swallowed-... will take you to a nice sequencing activity for the class. I would use UDL 2.2 Clarify syntax and structure because the book would be read in a sing songy voice. 6y
jasminep I would use ESOL strategy 30 which is encourage the use of diagrams and drawings as aids to identify concepts and seeing relationships. I think I  could definitely work that into this story to help the students get a better understanding.

EricaG This looks like such a fun book to read before Thanksgiving break! I love the sequencing activity you included too. 6y
DrSpalding Your resource is visually appealing. Obviously this could help with creating an excellent storytelling. The resource could also be used during direct instruction after a read aloud or could be placed in a literacy station. Nice selection. 6y

Mehso-so

These books used to freak me out a bit, but my son loves them, so I've adjusted. There's lots of rhyming and ridiculousness in each one, which is fun. This one felt a bit disjointed to me, though. Colandro uses a bunch of things that are found at Thanksgiving to make a parade float, but the items aren't really connected to each other. Out of the Fall themes, I would recommend There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves instead.
