The Princess in Black and the Perfect Princess Party
The Princess in Black and the Perfect Princess Party | Shannon Hale, Dean Hale
7 posts | 20 read | 2 to read
Inconvenient monster alarms, a sparkly array of princess guests, and spot-on slapstick pacing make for a party readers will celebrate. Today is Princess Magnolias birthday party, and she wants everything to be perfect. But just as her guests are arriving . . . Brring! Brring! The monster alarm! Princess Magnolia runs to the broom closet, ditches her frilly clothes, and becomes the Princess in Black! She rushes to the goat pasture, defeats the monster, and returns to the castle before her guests discover her secret. But every time Princess Magnolia is about to open her presents, the monster alarm rings again. And every time she rushes backan inside-out dress here, a missing shoe thereit gets harder to keep the other princesses from being suspicious. Dont those monsters understand that now is not a good time for an attack?

This is an example of speculative fiction. In this genre, it encompasses supernatural ideas in a real-world setting. This book is about a princess who changes into all black after being told that “Princesses don't wear black“ and goes to Monster Land to save the day. And she has to try to keep this a secret from the nosy dutchess.

I'm sure that these are meant to be chapter books and we should be reading them over a couple of nights, but they are just short enough that DD and I tend to extend her bedtime reading and finish the book in one night. I am purchasing her the next four books in the series for Vday and Easter, and I won the seventh book from Early Reviewer program on #LibraryThing! #16of2020

5⭐?Our Library's Mother's Day Tea is based off of book two- Princess Magnolia is having her birthday parting, but she keeps getting called to fight monsters! Loved this cute book, and seeing the different princesses and their " noble steeds" represent different countries across the world.

"Sir Hogswell did not believe in races. Sir Hogswell did not believe in speed. Sir Hogswell believed in dinner, dessert, and a good night's sleep." #SirHogswellismysoulmate.

Cute books and I love that we can read them in one or two sittings. Not Harriet Hamsterbone, but still fun. Plus the chapters end in cliffhangers so Elle is always begging for one more chapter. 💗

DebinHawaii Such a cute picture! ❤️😀 7y
