This wordless work of HF by Henry Cole follows is the story of a young girl during the time of the Underground Railroad who discovers a runaway slave hiding in the barn. The pictures depict the connection that the young girl and the stranger make. I think this book would best be taught using S because of the lack of words and strong meaning that can be conveyed.

Unspoken is a historical fiction book written by Henry Cole. This book is about the underground railroad. There are a ton of illustrations that tell the story. This book would be difficult for young children but good for older students.

Symbolic and wordless. Makes a statement

This book was all illustrations and no words. It quite literally doesn‘t require speaking; unspoken. I like how it shows the experience of traveling the Underground Railroad and how you have to be quiet and not speak in order to survive.

Beautiful and haunting with no words.

I was blown away by this book and the way it was written (drawn). With no words, and few images (really detailed, though)...it is important to really take in each illustration to grasp the full story.
