Stella's class is having a Mother's Day celebration, but what's a girl with two daddies to do? It's not that she doesn't have someone who helps her with her homework, or tucks her in at night. Stella has her Papa and Daddy who take care of her, and a whole gaggle of other loved ones who make her feel special and supported every day. She just doesn't have a mom to invite to the party. Fortunately, Stella finds a unique solution to her party problem in this sweet story about love, acceptance, and the true meaning of family.

4 ⭐ Stella‘s class is having a Mother‘s Day event, but Stella doesn‘t have a mother, she has two fathers. What should see do? This questions causes a week of worry until a friend suggests to bring all her family, and that is what she does. This book works, because it is a concern for many children missing “traditional” family members. This book gives a great idea of what a child stuck in this situation could do.

I ordered this book used on Amazon for Parker‘s library. It‘s a great addition to her #diverselibrary as it features a female lead character with two dads. So, it tics two boxes in the diversity check list. Oh and the girl has red hair, which is also a rare trait. #childrensbooks #diversebooks #diversechildrensbooks #diversity

The illustrations in this are adorable. Stella has two dads, and she is surrounded by people who love her, but she runs into an issue wondering who to bring to her Mother‘s Day celebration. I did like that the teacher says they can invite “a special guest” and doesn‘t specify a mother, but it made me wonder what the best way to handle these kind of celebrations is so that all kinds of families are included.

This book was a bedtime hit tonight! We love playing "school" and "circle time" and we love the idea of bringing special guests to school for a party! #kidlit #raisingboys #momlife #raiseareader
