I‘m continuing my German comic book research. Barbara Yelin does really interesting work. The art work in Irmina is beautiful and really evokes the time period that the story takes place in. I‘m reading the version released by Self Made Hero

Irmina‘s (fictional) trip to Barbados in 1983 reminded me of an essay written by Diana Athill about travelling to Trinidad and Tobago, where she did not want to stay in a resort.

It can be hard to sympathize with her because of her changed attitudes and her responses to the horrors around her.
Book buying ban goes into effect this month and lasts until BEA. Basic rules? I have to read (3) books that I own and haven't read, before purchasing a new title (this has already fallen from 7...5... 😂). The only exceptions are author events and gifts. The local library is going to be seeing a lot of me! Let's see if I can keep this up...
