This was a wonderful reread for me (even though I did confuse something that obviously happens in another book with this one 😀). I don't suppose Iris will be everyone's cup of tea, but I was once again impressed by her ability to convey in such detail people's emotional states, thoughts, motivations, blunderings... It's very much about love and grief and loving people that don't love us back but not told in a giddy, romantic way. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I'm doing some rereading these days. Got some walking and reading in at the park (not at the same time 🤪) while my girls played (in cut grass, getting terribly dirty).

We are all the judges and the judged, victims of the casual malice and fantasy of others, and ready sources of fantasy and malice in our turn. And if we are sometimes accused of sins of which we are innocent, are there not also other sins of which we are guilty and of which the world knows nothing?
