Caterpillar Summer | Gillian McDunn

Chicken says, “It wasn't the ending fo rus,“..“we have lots of pages left.“ People we love may die, but we must continue to live our lives because it is not the end for us.

“It‘s strange how much power darkness has over the light”.
The last of this graphic novel trilogy finds the MC helping her ghost friend, Wendell, find out more about his past life and death. She‘s also trying to navigate friendships. A little emotional toward the end—even though I figured out what was coming. Good trilogy.

So the great bare-handed mullet grab wasn‘t a trick. It wasn‘t possible after all.
Guess I‘ll have to come back another day and try again, Roy thought. That‘s what a real Florida boy would do.

Also read this tonight. Didn‘t wait to borrow it from my friend. A middle grade/YA graphic novel that continues the stories of ghosts & the 8th grader Marjorie. Introduces a new character who most peers think is “weird”. Has themes of bullying & suicidal thoughts. Marjorie is trying to keep her friendship with ghost Wendell but also can‘t admit he‘s a ghost. 4.5 ⭐️

KadaGul YA always has a way of melting your heart! 1d

Unsure if this is a Litsy thing to do, yet #PaperbackPirate gave me a marvelous idea to celebrate my first year a Litten with a new book 😉👍💝.

For some reason, 🤔 I wanted the book to be about books. This book discovered me 😂.

Wow 🤩 what a fantastic read . A middle grade story of 11year Addie, I think this book should be on the school curriculum, reminding us adults can be bullies as well as children & a child who is a bully usually has issues.
Anyway a book to whizz through in one sitting and it‘s now on bbc iPlayer as a mini series so il be diving into that !

Great illustrations, believable characters who experience a great deal of personal growth, and a well paced story. It is amazing what people do to attain their dreams. I can‘t imagine being in this situation.

I chose two books set mostly in the Pacific theater of WWII. It‘s been a long time since I read Code Talker, but I remember it being a fantastic book about the Navajo code talkers that served in the U.S. military. Grenade is told from the alternating perspectives of a Japanese teenager and a young U.S. Marine during the Battle of Okinawa.

Karisimo I‘ve heard of both of these but not read them yet! We watched Hacksaw Ridge tonight which took place in Japan. Thanks for sharing!! 5d

It's Memorial Day in the US, so let's share books that take place during these two wars for #middlegrademonday !

The tagged book follows five kids from different countries who represent various elements of WW1. Their lives intersect in creative ways, each displaying courage in their own way. Engaging characters drive the story, but kids will also learn a lot about WW1 along the way- exactly what I expect from historical fiction!
